Farlington’s well-established and successful approach to teaching modern languages incorporates drama at the heart of its learning strategy. In addition to the three classroom stages, a new outdoor performance space has been constructed, thanks to funding from Farlington’s PTA.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted in Italian by Headmistress, Louise Higson, and was followed by a variety of amusing sketches and songs in Italian, German, Spanish and French by girls in years eight to 10.
“We are absolutely delighted with our new outdoor stage,” said Head of Curriculum & Choices, David Walker-Smith. “It’s great to be able to make the most of our beautiful 33 acres of parkland and give the pupils the opportunity to learn in the fresh air in the warm weather.”
The performance area has been constructed using the latest eco-friendly, maintenance-free materials, so it is sure to be around for everyone’s enjoyment for many years to come.
