Posted by Stephanie Broad | July 28, 2016 | Sports & Leisure

Bishop’s Stortford College swimmer, Elinah, will be competing at the Olympics in Rio. Following the Olympic trials in Glasgow during the Easter holidays, Elinah has been selected to represent the British Virgin Islands in the Women’s 50m Freestyle. This event takes place on 12 August at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Elinah has been able to support her training as part of the college’s Elite Sports Programme. One of her college coaches, Deborah Huggett, commented: “We are immensely proud of Elinah. She’s worked so hard for this opportunity and we’re thrilled she’s made the team. It’s been a rocky path in terms of injuries and illness, but she’s overcome all obstacles and we wish her the very best for Rio.”
