Results day poll shows students happiest in Northern Ireland

The Student Room conducted live polls on A level results day, finding 84% happy with their grades

The Student Room  conducted live polls on 13 August to see how happy UK students are with their A level results. 

Students in Northern Ireland and West Midlands felt the happiest with their grades, and those in Wales and North West were more dissatisfied. 

Overall 84% of students are feeling positive about their grades, and a higher percentage of females were satisfied than their male counterparts (86% versus 81%).

Jack Wallington, community director for The Student Room, commented: "A level results day is one of the busiest and most stressful times for the 850,000-plus students whose years of study will culminate with release of today's grades. So we are thrilled that the majority of students are feeling so upbeat and positive.   

"If you haven’t achieved the grades you hoped for, our advice is always to remain calm.  With the cap on uni places lifted, there are more opportunities to study for a degree than ever before by entering Clearing.

"You might even fancy a break from education to collect your thoughts through a gap year to travel or gain work experience. Defer uni for a year to apply again in 2016, or consider myriad of alternative options like apprenticeships”
