St Martha’s School has announced its transitioned to new ownership and will become Mount House School, from September 2017. The school will continue to be led by Matthew Burke, who has been Head for the past four years.

The school will be governed by an experienced Board of Directors formed of leading educationalists and investors. Welcoming boys from September 2018, Mount House School will become coeducational; educating both girls and boys aged 11 to 18 at the historic house, originally called Mount House, and grounds in Hadley Wood in Hertfordshire.

Mount House School will share many of the same academic and pastoral aims as St Martha’s and we look forward to providing a strong and exciting future for pupils at the school

Albion Ventures, an independent venture capitalist group based in London and with well-established success in investing long-term in independent schools, will be supporting the move. Investment in facilities will begin immediately this summer to create an enhanced learning environment, benefitting all the pupils and staff. Over the course of the next year there will also be significant investment in the school’s sporting provision with increased access to excellent facilities within a short drive of the school.

Toby Mullins, Executive Principal at Mount House School and a Director on the Board, said: "Mount House School will share many of the same academic and pastoral aims as St Martha’s and we look forward to providing a strong and exciting future for pupils at the school. With significant new investment, highly experienced governance and leadership and a long-term commitment to providing an exceptional education, Mount House School is set to have a very exciting future."

Emil Gigov, partner at Albion Ventures, added: “As long term investors and supporters of independent schools we look forward to providing the best opportunities and an outstanding education for existing and future pupils at Mount House School.”

An open day will be held on Saturday 30th September at 10am for parents wishing to learn more about the school.
