Schools continue to invest with S&C Slatter

Investment by independent schools in new build and refurbished sport facilities remains at a consistently high level. Certainly that’s true if the works programme of sports construction specialists, S&C Slatter, is anything to go by.

Cheadle Hulme School, Ratcliffe College and Scarborough College are just three examples of the many new customers who have recently commissioned S&C Slatter to complete sports facility projects in what is proving to be an extremely busy year for the company.

The scope of works for Ratcliffe College has been particularly extensive, with the contract featuring a new build 6388m² sand-dressed artificial turf hockey pitch, a polymeric athletics track and a 1486m² macadam multi-use games area. A warm up area, floodlighting, perimeter fencing and footpaths have also formed part of the brief undertaken by the S&C Slatter team.

For Cheadle Hulme School, the company has constructed a 3G football and rugby pitch which is additionally line marked for five-side play. Again, the provision of floodlighting, fencing and landscaping is included.

The installation of a new hockey pitch system at Scarborough College has called upon S&C Slatter’s ability to refurbish and enhance an existing synthetic pitch to meet new, higher standards of performance without having to revert to a complete re-construction. The original artificial turf and shockpad have been replaced with a new in-situ bound rubber crumb performance layer surfaced with FieldTurf’s exceptional new Hockey Gold Elite sand-dressed artificial turf.
