New playground fit for little Queens
Pupils at a Chester school arrived back after the half term to find a new playground and learning facilities waiting for them

Reception pupils at The Queen’s Lower School in Chester were greeted with a new outdoor, soft-surface learning zone attached to their classroom when they returned after the half-term break. All key stage one pupils also now have a new playground with a stage and seating, a mud kitchen area, a gazebo and climbing equipment and a multi-ball sports area. These new additions supplement the school’s existing facilities which already include a swimming pool, drama studio, library, art room and kiln plus a forest school programme due to roll-out from September.
New headmistress Mrs Rachel Cookson said: “The new reception and key stage one facilities are absolutely wonderful. The girls have been giddy with excitement about using the equipment and they have loved it all – from the weights and pulleys in the mud kitchen to dancing on the stage, playing football with their friends, clambering, sliding and jumping from the new apparatus or just sitting and chatting in this welcoming fun environment.”
