Bedford Girls’ School appoints new head
Gemma Gibson takes over the role at the start of the new school year
Bedford Girls’ School (BGS) has announced the name of its new headmistress.
Gemma Gibson will take up the post in September, following the 10-year tenure of Jo MacKenzie.
“I am honoured and excited to be given the opportunity to lead Bedford Girls’ School,” said Gibson.
“I share BGS’ vision for a 21st century education, and have been immensely impressed by the sense of enthusiasm, purpose and progressive spirit, which I witnessed throughout the school during the recruitment process.”
Gibson is currently deputy head (academic) at Harrow Hong Kong, having previously worked at North London Collegiate School in South Korea, Queen Elizabeth’s Girls’ School and St Ignatius College, London.
“We are extremely pleased that Mrs Gibson will join BGS,” said Tina Beddoes, chair of governors at BGS.
“She is clearly an advocate for a future-inspired education, and shares our ethos of an education focused on the development of young women who will go out and make a difference to the world around them.”
