Committed to sustainable design

danfloor's ECONOMIX and EVOLUTION ranges aim to help reduce marine litter

At danfloor we take our responsibility to the environment seriously. We are committed to providing environmentally-conscious products by continually analysing every aspect of our business and its impact on the environment around us.

As a result, the ECONYL® nylon fibre used within a number of ranges including the stunning EVOLUTION Collection and the ECONOMIX range of products is 100% regenerated and infinitely regenerable.

The ECONYL® regenerated system is an intelligent and sustainable way to create products from waste, in a continuous loop, and it produces exactly the same high quality and technically performing yarn as those made from virgin raw materials, the big difference is that it is much more sustainable.

The regenerated material used to construct the yarn includes items like abandoned fishing nets and other waste nylon. Ghost fishing is a mounting environmental concern that is harming and killing many of the world’s marine mammals. Ghost fishing occurs as a result of lost or discarded fishing equipment that is left to drift the oceans.

The regenerated material used to construct the yarn includes items like abandoned fishing nets and other waste nylon

Abandoned fishing nets continue to trap fish and marine mammals long after they have served their purpose, resulting in devastating consequences. These discarded nets eventually sink from the weight of the catch. The entrapped organisms then begin to degrade, allowing the net to float back to the surface to repeat the cycle again.

World Animal Protection says 640,000 tonnes of ghost gear is left in our oceans each year. Discarded fishing nets are estimated to account for one tenth of waste in the oceans.

Made from pre- and post-consumer waste, the ECONOMIX range and EVOLUTION Collection aim to help reduce marine litter and limit its environmental impact.

As well as significantly reducing marine waste, the use of ECONYL® yarn can greatly assist in a sustainable environment. Compared to traditional polymers for every 10,000 tonnes of ECONYL® raw material produced 70,000 barrels of crude oil are saved and 57,100 tonnes of CO2 eq. emissions are avoided.

Not only is the ECONYL® nylon yarn environmentally-conscious, it also plays an important part of the integrity and resilience of our ECONOMIX range and EVOLUTION Collection, and goes a long way in determining the carpet’s overall performance.

The ECONOMIX range from danfloor

Both the ECONOMIX and EVOLUTION Collection provide the following performance benefits:

  • Class 33 heavy-commercial use certification
Both ranges offer extreme durability. The British standards classification 33 ‘Heavy Commercial Use’ enables it to withstand high volumes of foot and wheeled traffic and intense commercial cleaning, making it ideal for use within high traffic areas such as corridors and communal areas.
  • 10-15 year wear warranty
Depending upon application, we offer a 10-15 warranty which gives you additional peace of mind that your carpets are made to last.
  • Colour fast solution dyed nylon
The yarn offers a locked in colourfast system which ensures superior colour and lightfastness even when subject to harsh cleaning chemicals.
  • Naturally sound absorbent
danfloor carpets have great sound absorption qualities, with the ECONOMIX and EVOLUTION Collections achieving in excess of 28dB reduction in sound impact levels, which helps to create the optimum environment for learning and living.
  • Spill safe impervious membrane
EVOLUTION and ECONOMIX have an integral protective membrane, preventing liquid spills penetrating through to the sub floor, reducing contamination, fungal growth and unpleasant odours.
  • On trend colour palette
Not only will the available colour bank fit in with the latest trends, there will also be colours which help disguise the visual signs of soiling.
  • Soil and stain resistant fibres
Due to the shape and structure of the fibre, soil and stains find it difficult to stick to the carpet yarn, therefore assisting you with your ongoing maintenance.
