2017 has been quite a year, and in this issue we look back at how the last 12 months have influenced the edtech sector. We speak to experts in the field about what their buzzwords for 2017 are, and what might be in store for 2018.

In our features, we look at how AV has been invented and reinvented through classroom tech, and how the humble OHP has been thoroughly overtaken. We also address the negative press around AI and what it really means for education. Software also gets its moment under the spotlight, and we look at how it could help solve some of the edtech problems of 2018.

This issue also contains our exclusive Bett preview and awards shortlist, so head to page 26 for a rundown on the biggest edtech event of the year.

Inspiring students and teachers to find a way to achieve their goals is also a huge topic for 2018, and not only do we have a review of the inaugural WIRED Next Generation event, but we have an interview with space scientist and WIRED speaker Maggie Aderin-Pocock on why our galaxy needs the next generation, and how we can inspire them to reach for the stars.
