Marist sports hall officially open

£2.5m sports hall unveiled

Posted by Lucinda Reid | November 20, 2016 | Sports & Leisure

Friday 21 October 2016 marked a day of celebration for The Marist as the school’s new sports centre was officially unveiled. Marist Sisters, governors, senior management, staff, parents and pupils came together to attend a short reception as the formal handover of the keys took place between Mr Paul Bath, Site Manager for Claude Fenton, and the Marist Trustees.

Following the reception, which took place upstairs in the viewing gallery overlooking the Sports Hall, guests were then treated to a netball showcase by Marist pupils as they took to the courts for the first time.

The facility, which took just over 12 months to complete, includes a multipurpose Sports Hall, an upstairs viewing gallery, state-of-the-art fitness suite and fully functioning classrooms. The Trustees are delighted with the building and look forward to the new opportunities that the Sports Hall will offer to Marist pupils and the local community.

Commenting on the new facility, Chair of Governors Mrs Ann Nash said: “As a school we are thoroughly delighted with the new Sports Hall and the future opportunities this space will now offer. As well as providing a new facility for our current pupils, we look forward to opening up our sports venue to the local community. We’ll be offering fantastic opportunities such as participation in a local primary schools netball tournament, which we recently hosted. Thank you to everyone involved in the project.â€
