Meeting demand for more women’s sportswear
O’Neills Sportswear has responded to demand for more women’s sports clothing with new fabrics, styles and fit
O’Neills Sportswear, having noticed a trend for increased popularity in women’s sport, has recently introduced stock items in girls/women’s fit in T-shirts, polos, fleece hoodies and short-zip track tops. With shorts, track pants and outerwear also available in a girls’/women’s fit, customers can source all their requirements with decoration in a three-week period.
Peter Kennedy of O’Neills, whose wife is a director of sport and has two daughters working in education, knows only too well that the demand for girls’/women’s sizes has increased considerably in the last two to three years.
Kennedy said: “The success of high-profile teams such as England Hockey, Netball and Football has resulted in more specific demands for technical sportswear and associated products with the right fit.”
Off the back of securing the Brumbies deal, O’Neills’ sales representatives and designers have worked in tandem to offer exactly what the women’s team required.
Susie Robertson, O’Neills GB sales manager has worked closely with Celtic Dragons/Wales Netball, and more recently the newly recruited Team Bath Netball teams to develop a new netball fabric and design which has been a great success; it is now offered to the education and club market.
A similar exercise has taken place in hockey, with Bristol Grammar School being the first to receive the new Purtec fabric in a fitted shirt and skort.
Kennedy is convinced that “seeing is believing” and offers a “no pressure to buy” meeting with directors and heads of sport, with the emphasis being on seeing the products in real life and learning all about design possibilities and lead times.
Bespoke teamwear is available in four to five weeks, and stock garments with decoration are available in three weeks. O’Neills also has the option of an Online Shop facility, with orders delivered in three to seven days.
