Rydal Penrhos pupils turn the page

Staff at the school also lent their support to the annual promotion of reading, World Book Day

Rydal Penrhos School held a number of different activities as part of World Book Day, which saw lots going on thanks to hard work by the English and Drama departments.

Lots of staff dressed up as their favourite fictional character to mark the occasion, and pupils took part in a competition to guess each one in the hope of winning a prize.

Reading themed quizzes were a prominent part of lessons throughout the day, and different year groups also downed tools for a short period to focus on the book of their choice.

Hidden opening lines of books were also scattered around school, and there was a #Shelfie competition devised for staff, who sent in pictures of their bookshelves at home. The Prep School also arranged shared reading at different sessions throughout the day.

English and Drama teacher Fiona Earle, said: “It was another hugely successful World Book Day at Rydal Penrhos, which is something every member of the school community looks forward to immensely.

“The importance of reading at a high level cannot be underestimated in terms of a child’s overall learning, and events such as this are a great way to highlight this while also having some fun in the process.”
