After nearly a year and a half of editing Independent Education Today, I have come to the realisation that the school lunches I enjoyed (endured?) are now history.
Our catering issue is biannual and every time we tackle this topic, I hear fresh ideas from headteachers about school catering. For example, in our special report on page 13, one school has recently planted an orchard in their grounds so that pupils can enjoy fresh fruit on their doorstep and another is bringing the kitchen to life with a chef theatre station in the dining room.
Elsewhere, the innovative thinking continues on page 18 as I visited Copthill School to learn about their blossoming Forest School and outdoor curriculum. Copthill is passionate about the outdoors and after my visit, I was too.
The IB is also celebrating 50 years, so we have a special feature from Mark Seldon at Gresham’s School, who explains why the IB is an excellent choice for the next generation.
I hope you enjoy this issue, and if you have a story please get in touch via Lucinda.reid@wildfirecomms.co.uk as I would love to feature your school in the next magazine.
