The future of school buildings and capital funding

Book your place on this unmissable seminar to find out the future of school buildings

On Tueday 7th February, the education and construction sector will come together to discuss the future of school buildings and capital funding.

The seminar will take place at Sixy One, Whitehall, London, SW1A 2ET, and Westminster Forum Projects is delighted to announce that the guests of honour will be Caroline Buckingham, Owner and Director, HLM Architects and Vice President, Practice and Profession, Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Plus, a senior speaker is confirmed from the Department for Education

At the event, delegates will consider the impact of the Priority Schools Building Programme (PSBP) on those schools allocated funding and look ahead to phase two. This follows the release of the Department for Education’s annual update, which suggests both a possible overspend for its first phase and a delay for the project.

The seminar will be an opportunity to discuss the programme’s progress and prospects as the National Audit Office finalises its performance assessment. It also follows the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) report Better Spaces for Learning, calling for changes in communication between schools, the Education Funding Agency, designers and builders, and for more flexibility in the design of schools.

Sessions also look at steps that can be taken to support schools not included in PSBP but still require improvements, and innovative approaches to financing the refurbishment and building of schools.
