WCBS'™ double celebrations

WCBS, supplier of Management Information Systems to Independent Schools, enters 30th year and achieves 'Investors in People' standard

WCBS, a leading supplier of Management Information Systems to Independent Schools across the globe, has two reasons to celebrate, as it marks 30 years of trading as well as recently achieving the Investors in People accreditation.

Employing over 70 staff, WCBS, based in Glastonbury, was originally established as West Country Business Systems back in 1984. The company’s first customer was Wells Cathedral School, also based in Somerset, for whom it developed an automated billing system. Since then WCBS has grown to become one of the leading suppliers of MIS (Management Information Systems) for Independent Schools with over 550 customers world-wide. Always at the forefront of technology, over this time the company has developed a whole suite of software aimed at helping schools gain greater value from information; whether it’s for academic, administrative or finance staff.

CEO at WCBS, Tim Berry, commented: “As a company we are proud of both our heritage and our position as the market leader in our field. I believe that our success to date is a result of our continued innovation and high levels of customer care that have been delivered by our most valued asset, our people. We are the only supplier in our marketplace to have been awarded the Investors in People accolade. We see this as the perfect foundation for both recognising and motivating our staff so we can continue to meet and surpass the evolving needs and expectations of Independent Schools, both now and in the future.”

Investors in People is the UK's leading accreditation for business improvement through people management, and provides a wealth of resources for businesses to innovate, improve and grow, with a focus on good people making great business.

Paul Devoy, Head of Investors in People, said: “Achieving the Investors in People standard is something that any organisation should be truly proud of. It is the sign of a company which is truly committed to good people management practice and we’d like to congratulate WCBS on their achievement.”

In the ISBA (Independent Schools Bursar’s Association) Survey 2014, WCBS was judged as the top software supplier in nine out of 10 categories, with over half of all independent schools using its PASS finance system.
