Major Exhibitors
Exhibitors at Facilities Management 2014 include MobileWorxs, Florprotec, Peacock Salt and Balcan Engineering. Many are using the opportunity to launch major new products. For instance Bell Plastics will be exhibiting two new materials at the show - Glo Tread and Intread. Glo Tread allows stair nosing, insert strips or discs to illuminate for over 12 hours after being exposed to a light source for only 10 minutes. Intread is the only general purpose product for interior stairs currently available which has been filled with Carborundum on the tread, instead of PVC or rubber. This means it exceeds all non-slip HSE requirements but also the infill lasts far longer than other products.
Leading fire safety provider, Fireco will be showing its very latest Easydor. This eco-friendly wire-free, door operator is ideal for buildings such as colleges and schools, making it easier for wheelchair users to open doors. Accessibility is therefore improved but it also makes it easier to adhere to disability discrimination legislation. Easydor ingeniously uses a regenerative drive system that charges its internal battery pack, eliminating the need for an electrical power supply.
British Pest Control Association Zone
The BPCA, which represents the public health pest control sector and has over 500 members, will host a dedicated area at the event. Simon Forrester, the BPCA’s chief executive, says: “We’re delighted to be supporting easyFairs’ Facilities Management 2014. We know facilities professionals need advice and support when selecting and managing their pest control contract and our presence at the show is designed to do just that.”
Enlightening Exchange
Facilities Management will feature a special programme of content rich seminars called The Exchange. The 21 free talks will be packed with advice, new innovations and case studies for delegates to learn from. For instance Helen McHugh, head of sustainable technology at ebm-papst UK, will discuss where the majority of a building’s energy is consumed, and why it is so important to concentrate on a building’s fans and HVAC equipment when looking for energy savings.
Andrew Shaw, managing director at Business Services Growth, will explain why service providers and FM clients should work more closely together. Facilities managers looking for the best environmental option for disposing of flooring from refurbishment projects will find the talk by Jane Gardner from Axion Consulting invaluable.
Running in conjunction with The Exchange will be FM Matters where experts from some of the biggest names in industry including Norland, Servicebrand Global and Interserve FM will debate the critical facilities management topics.
Co-Locations
Providing yet more content for visitors, Facilities Management will run alongside Maintec, which focuses on the needs of maintenance, plant and asset management professionals. The co-location between Facilities Management and Maintec is a logical fit as many FM managers also have a maintenance remit.
Facilities Management is also co-located with the new Health & Safety Event with visitors able to attend the show’s rich series of seminars, which are programmed by the British Safety Council.
Lions’ Lair
Attendees eager to see the latest innovations in action should check out Lions’ Lair which will be run on the show floor. This contest will have the event’s new FM technologies, innovations and concepts pitched to an expert panel in a bid to find the best in show.
