Alpha Plus pre-prep and prep schools reopen to all children

A survey showed 85% of parents planned to send their children back to school this week

In line with new government guidance, Alpha Plus Group reopened its pre-preparatory and preparatory schools to all children on Monday (22 June).

The full reopening meant children from nursery age to 13 could return to school.

The group’s schools have been open to reception, year one and year six since 1 June, but this was the first time all pupils were able to get back into school.

The move was welcomed by parents, as surveys in advance of the full reopening showed that, on average, 85% of parents planned to see their children return to school on Monday. This would mean over 2,500 pupils were back in their schools – up from just under 1,500 the week before.

Some parents wrote to schools with their feedback on the full reopening and the educational experience their children had during lockdown.

We are delighted to have this support of parents and we hope that their children thoroughly enjoy their time back at school this week

One parent from Hilden Grange School said: “I really want to thank you and your team for an absolutely fantastic effort over the past few weeks. Nobody signed up for online learning – not parents, children, nor indeed staff – it was thrust upon us. But when I judge the learning opportunities and interaction with teachers our children have had versus some of the other independent schools in the area, it really is impressive.”

A parent from Falcons Prep Richmond said: “We just wanted to say a thank you to you and all of the Falcons team for your incredible hard work during this difficult period and your amazing efforts to get the boys back to school. It really is appreciated by us all so much.”

A statement from Alpha Plus Group read: “We are delighted to have this support of parents and we hope that their children thoroughly enjoy their time back at school this week.”

During the initial stages of lockdown, four of the group’s schools remained open to care for the children of key workers.

Alpha Plus Group owns and manages 20 schools, nurseries and sixth form colleges. They are the largest independent education provider in London.
