Beech Hall School shortlisted for prestigious awards

Beech Hall School has been shortlisted for two national accolades in the highly-regarded ISA Awards

Macclesfield-based Beech Hall School fought off stiff competition from independent schools from around the UK to be shortlisted for both the ISA Award for Excellence and Innovation in Partnerships, and the ISA Award for Excellence in Extra-Curricular Activities.

The independent school’s offering of a broad range of extra-curricular activities prompted them to be shortlisted for one of the awards. Pupils are able to engage in activities which include a Drone Club, a Ukulele Club, a Dragon Committee, a Chicken Committee (those committed to looking after the school’s pets), and the Fives Club – based loosely on the Eton Fives.

The second nomination is in recognition of the school’s local partnerships. One is an affiliation with the local Park Lane School, a specialist school for communication and interaction. The link sees both schools work collaboratively to provide pupils with multiple opportunities not necessarily available in their own schools. Other partnerships include working with the local brass band group, a local football group and supporting charitable causes in the school’s own community.

Headmaster James Allen commented, “We are delighted to be shortlisted for two highly-respected awards in key areas which we pride ourselves on. Engagement and partnerships with the local community are essential as Beech Hall shares its resources and facilities, enabling others to take advantage of all that is on offer. We also encourage our pupils to take part in extra-curricular activities, not just because we believe they are an important facet of a broader education, but because they underpin so many skills, attitudes and attributes that we seek to engender in our pupils. To be considered for these awards is an honour.”

Following their short-listing, the school will be represented at the prestigious national award ceremony in Coventry on Friday 10 November, hosted by BBC Radio Presenter Gary Richardson, where they will compete for the overall winner’s title.
