Campaign encourages alumni to share messages of inspiration

The initiative asks schools to further engage with alumni to bring school communities closer together during the pandemic

In order to bring school communities together, a marketing company has launched a campaign encouraging alumni to share messages about how their school inspired them.

Marketing Advisers for Schools’ campaign, Support Your Schools, launched today (22 October) with the aim of building morale at a challenging time for the education sector.

“In 2020 we have all found ourselves adjusting together to new norms and schools have had to adapt. A number of fee-paying schools are potentially still facing their biggest challenge, and in some cases their survival,” said Marketing Advisers for Schools.

“The good-will campaign is encouraging schools to rejoice with their past pupils by sharing their inspired messages of how school set them on their path. The theme of the initiative is to ‘support together’ across the whole school community.”

Alumni networks have long been recognised as beneficial to independent schools, with many schools connecting past pupils with current pupils to offer advice.

The campaign, which will run during November and December also, is open to all schools. The messages should highlight the life skills and values that pupils learned while at school, which Marketing Advisers for Schools hope will be an inspiration to others.

“All pulling together and sharing positive inspiration can offer a welcome morale boost at this time,” said Nick Richardson, an ex-Wellington School pupil.

Austin Friars School alumnus Charlotte Arter, a keen athlete as a pupil, has gone on to complete in Team GB and holds the Parkrun world record. “Although it can take time to get where you want to be, cherish your aspirations and believe in your own ability,” Arter said.
