Cheltenham College Preparatory School appoints new Head

The new Head will be taking up his new post from September 2018

Tom O’Sullivan has been appointed as the new Head of Cheltenham College Preparatory School. He will take up his new post from September 2018 following current Head Jon Whybrow’s decision to retire.

Tom will work closely alongside Nicola Huggett, the new Head at Cheltenham College. Nicola has been closely involved in the recruitment process for the new Head at the prep and the pair will work closely to lead both schools forward in the coming years.

Tom is currently Head of Old Buckenham Hall. Prior to taking up this role he was Deputy Head at Mowden Hall and taught at Beaudesert Park School. Now returning once again to the South West, he will be a big part of life for pupils and parents at the prep who will encounter him not only in the classroom but also, as a keen sportsman and theatre director, on the pitches and the stage too.

Tom commented on his new appointment: “I am incredibly excited to be joining the amazing team at the prep. Having spent most of the first 30 years of my life in Cheltenham I know both the school and the area well and I’m relishing the opportunity to lead the prep school to further success over the coming years.

Bill Straker-Nesbit, President of Cheltenham College Council added: In the months ahead, Tom and Jon Whybrow will be in close contact to ensure that the school continues to deliver to its current high standards. We are incredibly pleased that Tom is joining us and we are confident that the future of the prep will be safe, and very bright, in Tom’s hands.”
