Cup run nets rugby award

For the first time the Rugby World’s Team of the Month award has gone to the first XV rugby squad at Dauntsey’s School

Dauntsey’s has been awarded its first-ever Team of the Month Award from Rugby World Magazine, following a NatWest Cup run by the first XV. A representative from Gilbert visited the school this week to present the award.

Writing in the March issue of the magazine, correspondent Huw S Thomas said: “(Dauntsey’s) performance in beating a very good Sherborne side 13-11 to reach the quarter-finals of the NatWest Cup ranks as one of the greatest wins in the history of the Devizes school … Sherborne are one of England’s great rugby schools and they had won 13 of their 15 games this season, so the Dauntsey’s performance was quite outstanding.”

Marcus Olsen, director of sport at Dauntsey’s, said: “The team and coaching staff are thrilled to receive this recognition from Rugby World Magazine. It is testament to the hard work and dedication from everyone over many years. This is a great conclusion to what has been a vintage rugby season for Dauntsey’s.”
