Review of the year special
The December issue of Independent Education Today has arrived and it is my first issue as editor! My first few weeks have been a whirlwind, as I have become immersed in the world of independent schools. I have found the sector to be exciting, dynamic and one that has a lot to say, which is fantastic when you are editing a magazine about independent schools.
In this issue we look at the impact of 2016 and, as a consequence, what the future holds. Paul Norton, Principal at Kings Monkton School in Cardiff, remains optimistic on page 19, as he states that independent schools will continue to lead from the front. Similarly, in our special report on page 13, key figures in the sector say the future is bright as schools continue to focus on what is right for the individual child. Speaking of the future, technology is a huge part of what’s ahead and Helen Jeys, Headmistress at Alderley Edge Schools for Girls, discusses whether technology in the classroom is our friend or foe on page 39. We also reveal what to expect from Bett 2017 on page 40, as it promises to be another unmissable event.
It’s been a memorable year, but I’m confident that 2017 will bring even more inspirational news. I look forward to sharing it with you in the next issue and beyond….
