Derby High School appoints new Headteacher

Amy Chapman was Deputy Headteacher at the school for two years and takes over the role from Denise Gould, who is retiring after 32 years in education

Amy Chapman said she was thrilled and immensely proud to have been appointed Headteacher of Derby High School.

She said: “The school has flourished under the Headship of Mrs Gould and I am excited to have the opportunity to build on this success and lead the school forward, building on this educational vision to ensure Derby High continues to be a beacon of education excellence in the East Midlands.”

Assistant Head teacher Annie Jordan has been appointed as Deputy Headteacher in Mrs Chapman’s place.

Mrs Gould said it had been an honour to lead Derby High School and wished Mrs Chapman well in her new role.

She said: “It has been my privilege to lead the exceptional team of staff and students at Derby High School and to work with such a supportive school community. Together, we have built on the school’s strong foundations, developing our academic provision and enhancing our excellent facilities. I am delighted that Mrs Chapman has been appointed to lead the school through its next phase of development and wish her every success and happiness in her new role.”
