St Anthony’s School for Girls has hosted its first “Whole Day of Reading”.
The day saw pupils at the Golders Green based school participate in a range of exciting tasks. The inaugural “SASG Book Election” allowed for some healthy competition with the girls bringing in their favourite tales, and staff also joined them to partake in “Drop Everything and Read”, a time set aside to enjoy a pleasurable book.
Another competitive edge was brought to the day after pupils were requested to showcase photographs of them reading in an innovative or unusual place, with one student enjoying a story whilst perched on a tree branch.
The pupils had a visit from renowned children’s author, Lou Kuenzler. The writer provided the Year 3 girls with some invaluable tips for good storytelling while reading from one of her Bella Broomstick novels.
The girls, and even the staff, had a wonderful day exploring the joys of reading and they have learnt some invaluable lessons – Laura Martin, Head Teacher of St Anthony’s School for Girls
Head Teacher, Laura Martin commented: “The girls, and even the staff, had a wonderful day exploring the joys of reading and they have learnt some invaluable lessons. It was incredibly kind of Lou to sign some of her books for the girls after a story reading with Reception.”
