A Somerset pre-prep has been recognised for the quality of its early years physical activity provision.
The pre-prep at Millfield School has been made an accredited provider of physical activity following an audit by Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP), a charitable trust aiming to increase participation in sport and active recreation across the county.
All the children at the pre-prep participate in sport, activities, or clubs on a daily basis.
“It is always great to receive an award like this because it is a reminder that, as a school, we are doing the right thing,” said Mike Jory, head of Millfield Pre-Prep.
“The health and wellbeing of our children is a priority here and so we are glad that this has been recognised.
“The staff are devoted to creating an environment for the children where they can thrive, and we see the benefits daily.”
Millfield has long been feted for its sporting prowess, in terms of both its facilities and the exploits of former pupils. In November last year, double Olympic gold medallist James Guy returned to reopen his refurbished childhood swimming pool; the swimmer was one of 13 ex-Millfield students to compete at the Tokyo games. And in April 2021, the school was named the best in the UK for producing youth-level England international rugby players.
