Your teacher training room should be dynamic, inviting, welcoming and inspiring. But how do you achieve this? In this blog, we’ll share a few tried and tested tips that will help you get the most from your training room.
Teacher training
How do you inspire and motivate the next generation of teachers to find their passion? Your teacher training room is a good place to start.
Perhaps you’re considering creating a dedicated training room within your school, or you’d like to use an external venue? Either way, it’s really important to think about the visual environment in which your training programme will take place.
In the same way that the visual environment is key to positive learning outcomes for pupils, it matters where you train your teachers too.
What to consider
There are a few points to consider if you want to create an inspiring training room:
Walls: Are they dull and uninteresting? Bring them to life with beautiful images, motivational quotes and beautiful colours.
Furniture: Is it comfortable and inviting? Training sessions may be long – pick comfy chairs, pleasant colours and soft furnishings.
Accessibility: Can anyone access and use your training room, including those with special needs or disabilities? Make sure they can.
Lighting: Bright fluorescent lights that cause eye strain and headaches? No thanks! Choose wisely when it comes to lighting.
Wall art for teacher training rooms
Bespoke wall art can make a huge difference to any room. Whether the design is for students or staff, NQTs or those in training, the visual environment matters.
Choose designs that motivate, uplift and inspire. For example, it can help to use quotes like those we used in Lee Chapel School’s teacher training room at the top of this blog.
We love the vibrant colours of the flooring, complemented by wooden tables and comfortable chairs. Our wall art was the final piece of the puzzle, creating an inviting space for future teachers to learn their craft.
