A pupil at an Ealing independent day school has booked her place to take part in this year’s Wimbledon championships.
St Benedict’s Mika Stojsavljevic will take her place in the inaugural 14 and under exhibition event, which will be held alongside the main Wimbledon championship from the end of the month.
The year eight pupil at the Catholic coeducational school booked her wildcard entry to the tournament by defeating her Romanian opponent, Andreea Diana Soare, 7-5 6-0 in the final of the 14U grass court national championships at Roehampton.
Alongside her British compatriot, Arabella Loftus, she also claimed the girls’ doubles title with a 6-2 6-2 win over Spain’s Carla Vázquez Alcudia and the Italian, Alice Iozzi.
Mika’s success was further bolstered by news that she has also been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Summer Cups, organised by Tennis Europe.
“This is wonderful news for Mika,” said Annika Broome, head of tennis at St Benedict’s.
“She has contributed a lot to St Benedict’s sport since she joined us in the junior school and continues to do so in the senior school.”
