Wellingborough School has appointed Andrew Holman as its new Headmaster. Holman will take on his new role in January 2018 and will oversee all three parts of the School, encompassing the Pre-Preparatory, Preparatory and Senior School, which combine to educate more than 850 children in Northamptonshire from ages 3 to 18.
The position of Headmaster attracted a competitive field of applicants, who went through a robust interview and assessment process. The current Headmaster, Garry Bowe, leaves the School in December after 13 years of service.
Currently the Deputy Head of Hymers College, Hull, Holman joins the School with a wealth of experience in the independent education sector. He studied Mathematics at Magdalene College, Cambridge, and began his teaching career thereafter at The King’s School, Chester, as a Teacher of Maths. New challenges were then sought at Nottingham High School, where he served as Teacher of Maths and Head of Year 7, before advancing to become the Head of Maths at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Blackburn.
Wellingborough School welcomes not only Holman, but also his wife, Sara, and children, Evie and Thomas, to the community. Holman is a keen cyclist and reader, and as a family, they are keen travellers to destinations near and far.
We live in rapidly changing times and our schools need to adapt accordingly, and I am very much looking forward to working with the pupils, staff, parents and Governors to fully realise the potential that exists within Wellingborough School - Andrew Holman, New Head of Wellingborough School
Holman said that he accepted the Chairman's offer as soon as he called him and he is delighted to be Wellingborough's next Head.
“Wellingborough is a school with a proud and rich heritage, a school with a culture of pastoral care and academic success that needs to be maintained whilst looking for ways in which to make the next big step forward. We live in rapidly changing times and our schools need to adapt accordingly, and I am very much looking forward to working with the pupils, staff, parents and Governors to fully realise the potential that exists within Wellingborough School,” he said.
Dr Jonathan Cox, Chairman of Governors, said of Mr Holman’s appointment, “The governing body and school leadership team are delighted with the appointment of Mr Holman and are sure that he will build on the outstanding years of service provided by Mr Bowe. Throughout his career, Mr Holman has experienced and cultivated an understanding of the full range of school responsibilities, from management and recruitment to pastoral and curriculum oversight. We are confident that he will provide strong leadership and a clear vision for the School, whilst retaining the ethos and values that we hold dear. We look forward to introducing Mr Holman to pupils, parents and staff, and are excited to enter a new chapter in Wellingborough School’s history.”
