Rugby School is giving NHS workers the chance to win a wedding worth more than £10,000 to say thank you for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.
The competition is open to any current NHS employee who may have had their wedding cancelled this year due to Covid-19, or who is engaged and hoping to get married in 2021.
The prize features use of Rugby School’s wedding facilities for an indoor or outdoor wedding ceremony for up to 50 guests, including a two-course wedding meal provided by the school’s catering team, Chartwells.
Many local wedding suppliers have offered their services free of charge to complete the prize, including transport, photography and videography, a live band, two-tier cake, wedding planner, £500 towards the bride’s dress, and suits for the groom and best man.
Rugby School’s enterprises planning and development manager, Rachel Watson, said they wanted to do something to say thank you, as a business, to all the NHS workers.
“It’s hard to put into words how grateful we are to our amazing NHS and the heroes who work within this caring environment, especially now when they are at great personal risk themselves,” said Watson.
“With Covid-19 ruining so many people’s plans, including weddings, we decided that what we really wanted to do is to give away an extra special day for an engaged couple who may have had their big day cancelled, or who were looking forward to getting married next year.
“We have been overwhelmed by the number of local businesses who have been keen to help us arrange this day and provide their services free of charge.”
The wedding day on offer will take place on 18 February 2021 in the school’s early 18th century facilities.
The competition closes at midnight on 18 May 2020.
