Falcons Prep School for Boys welcomes new Head

The Richmond-based school has announced the appointment of ‘highly-respected’ Headmistress, Olivia Buchanan

Olivia Buchanan will join Falcons Preparatory School for Boys in September, from her role of Deputy Head (Learning and Teaching) at The Hall School in Hampstead, where she has worked for the last five years.

Prior to teaching at The Hall School, Miss Buchanan taught Geography in Cambridge, while also mentoring trainee teachers at Homerton College. Miss Buchanan remains a keen geographer, recently publishing a paper on biomass fuel. Her interests outside of education include travelling and experiencing different cultures, as well as cooking and keeping fit.

Miss Buchanan graduated from St Andrew’s University with a BSc in Geography and has obtained a PGCE and MA, both from Cambridge University.

“Miss Buchanan will be bringing some very valuable experience with her.’

Miss Buchanan commented: “I am delighted to take on the headship role at the Falcons Preparatory School for Boys and cannot wait to begin this new chapter in my career. I am very much looking forward to developing strong relationships with the boys, their parents and staff before joining the school in September.

I have been impressed by the vibrant learning environment fostered by the staff and boys and have already witnessed the strong set of values focused on providing every boy with the opportunity to reach their full potential. I very much look forward to building on the strong foundations of the school.”

Mark Hanley-Browne, CEO of the Alpha Plus Group which the school is part of, said: “Miss Buchanan will be bringing some very valuable experience with her to Falcons Preparatory School for Boys; she has joined from a leading independent preparatory and has fostered strong links with local prestigious senior schools and well-established boarding colleges. We very much look forward to welcoming Miss Buchanan to the Alpha Plus Group.”
