Gold award for Sherborne House

Arts provision at the Hampshire independent school has been officially recognised by Arts Council England’s Artsmark programme

Sherborne House School has been awarded the Artsmark Gold. Artsmark is Arts Council England’s flagship programme which enables schools and other organisations to evaluate, strengthen and celebrate their arts and cultural provision. It is delivered by Trinity College London and 10 regional bridge organisations drive participation. Less than 10 per cent of schools in England have been awarded an Artsmark.

As most schools hope to achieve Artsmark initially and then spend three years preparing for ArtsMark Gold, Sherborne House School is pleased to have achieved Artsmark Gold straightaway.

To achieve Artsmark, the school had to undergo a rigorous application process, followed by a validation visit from a professional arts consultant. It was assessed on many areas of its provision, including arts in the curriculum, extra-curricular arts activities, how the school works with artists and arts organisations and how well its arts provision impacts on staff development and the wider community. In recognition of the award, Coldplay’s Will Champion donated a triple platinum disc to the school’s head boy and head girl.
