One of the biggest responsibilities of a magazine editor is choosing the cover of the magazine. It is the first thing the reader sees, so the decision is always important and something I never take lightly. In the past, we’ve had the likes of Maddie Hinch and Tanni Grey-Thompson grace the cover and it has been a pleasure showcasing these exceptional athletes.
This month, our special report on page 21 focuses on sports facilities, so I wanted an image that illustrated how facilities at independent schools can extend far beyond the school’s campus. This is why I love the chosen cover image from Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools. It is a stunning image and showcases how independent schools are thinking outside of the box when developing their facilities. Although sports centres and the latest equipment is important, it is refreshing to see schools make the most of their surroundings.
