The first ever Compass Group UK & Ireland Health Awareness Tour will be travelling the length and breadth of the UK between 20-31 January to provide hints and tips to its customers about how to lead healthier lifestyles and reduce their intake of saturated fat.
From Scotland to London, the ten day tour will visit a range of Compass locations including workplaces, universities and defence sites. Customers at these locations will have the opportunity to visit a nurse for on-the-spot cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes checks as well as health and wellbeing advice.
The tour will also encompass a number of secondary schools where one of Compass‚ dedicated nutritionists will be on hand to talk about the importance of health and wellbeing, highlight the difference between good and bad fats, and discuss with pupils how eating a healthy diet is really easy, and doesn‚t mean giving up their favourite foods.
Compass has already switched hundreds of its recipes from using butter to Flora Buttery, significantly reducing saturated fat from many of its dishes. As part of this tour, Compass‚ customers will be invited to take the Flora Buttery Taste Challenge – comparing dishes cooked with butter and Flora Buttery – to demonstrate that reduced saturated fat doesn‚t have to mean a compromise on taste.
Nicky Martin, Head Nutritionist at Compass Group UK & Ireland said: ‘Providing our customers with advice on how to lead healthier lifestyles is an important part of our health and wellbeing programme and our new ŒHealth Awareness Tour‚ with Flora Buttery is a great way of engaging with people on this topic. This is one of a number of health-focused initiatives we‚re running throughout January1 and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to putting health and wellbeing at the heart of our business.’
Suzy Newman, National Account Manager, Unilever Food Solutions, adds: ‘We are excited about supporting Compass Group UK & Ireland on their country wide initiative to drive the importance of health and wellbeing with their employees and customers. It demonstrates how both of our businesses are working together to deliver against the pledges we have committed to as part of the Government‚s Public Health Responsibility deal in particular the reduction of saturated fat in consumers‚ diets.’
