Hockey milestone for Ewell Castle

Ewell Castle School teacher awarded her 100th cap for Wales hockey

Ewell Castle School teacher and Wales Ladies International Hockey player Leah Wilkinson last week reached the landmark 100 caps in France. Leah’s 100th cap came Sunday 14th June in the first Test Match against France, where Wales secured a 1-0 victory. Leah was awarded the accolade of honoree captain for the game and also received the Man of the Match award.  Leah has previously represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games in both Delhi 2010 and Glasgow 2014.

Peter Harris, Principal of Ewell Castle School, commented: “We are proud of Leah and thrilled that she has achieved her 100th caps for Wales, what a fantastic achievement.  Leah not only teaches history at Ewell Castle but also runs Hockey masterclasses and coaches the pupils here. ” 

As well as hockey, Ewell Castle School offers sports scholarships for boys and girls aged 11 to 18. As part of its ECSports Academy Programme, the school also offers specialist tennis and cricket coaching for pupils playing at county level or above.
