Independent schools celebrate World Book Day

Worldwide celebration of reading gets off to a flying start

Now in its 19th year, World Book Day is a celebration of reading, designated by UNESCO and marked in over 100 countries all over the world. Schools that register to participate receive book tokens, resources and display materials to ensure the day is a success. World Book Day is offering a number of books for £1, for children in pre-school to KS3. Children can use their book tokens to purchase a £1 book or get £1 off any other book or audio book in participating book shops.

Schools around the world have been getting in the spirit, with both pupils and teachers dressing up for the occasion. Here are a few highlights so far:
