Children from Chester based school Abbey Gate College Infant and Junior School will soon have an out of this world experience when they meet astronaut Tim Peake.
The independent school for children aged four to 18 was one of 10,000 schools who participated in a national RHS and Space Agency competition to observe and measure the growth of seeds which spent time in space compared to that of those which had stayed on earth.
Their imaginative entry of submitting the findings as a time-lapse video was recognised by the space industry judges and experts and they have been invited to the Principial School Conference on 5th November, where six lucky children will meet Tim Peake himself.
Heading the project at the school, Mrs Helen Courtney, said: “As a school we are extremely excited that our results were identified as being amongst the best and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to meet Tim.
“The children are really looking forward to the event. The experiment has been a wonderful way to capture their imaginations and make science fun.”
