A group of 14 staff and pupils from Lord Wandsworth College recently spent five days cycling over 300 miles to raise money for the charity CRY.
Cycling in the West of Scotland and on the Isles of Arran, Mull and Skye, the group enjoyed beautiful landscapes and challenging cycling. The cycling highlight was climbing the historic pass of Bealach na Bà on the Applecross peninsula which boasts the greatest ascent of any road climb in the UK.
This was the twelfth cycle tour undertaken by the college for CRY, a charity which works to reduce the frequency of sudden cardiac death in young people. This year the tour raised £2,025, which brings the grand total of money raised for CRY over the 12 tours to £26,285.
New headmaster, Adam Williams, said: “As head, I’m incredibly proud and impressed with what our pupils continue to achieve, raising valuable money for much-needed causes. They are never content with just experiencing an expedition; it has to be challenging, inspiring and full of teamwork – in fact they thrive on this, setting the standards for others pupils and staff to aspire. ”
