Portland Place School has talent

Portland Place School hosts annual winter show to showcase talented pupils

Portland Place School showcased an array of exceptional pupil talent during its wonderful Winter Concert this December.

The show was held at Cecil Sharp House and made all the guests feel very festive. The concert was one of the best yet, with a variety of group and solo performances.

Portland Place School, a leading independent school, drew on the resources of various performance groups, including the Orchestra, Big Band, Soul Band, Choir and Chamber Choir. Pupils had worked hard in rehearsals and came together on the night to blow the audience away with their perfectly timed and stunning recitals. Solo singers and musicians all gave exceptional renditions and demonstrated the high level of talent which pupils regularly display at Portland Place School.

The range of music was incredibly diverse with the expected traditional Christmas songs putting everyone in the festive spirit as well as tunes from Bizet to Miles Davis and beyond.

One in five pupils at Portland Place were involved in the concert, making it one of the biggest yet and the staff choir is the largest to date.

Director of Music at Portland Place, Richard Brightwell, said: “All of these students have worked incredibly hard through the Autumn Term to learn and perfect a variety of repertoire during lunchtime and after-school rehearsals. There are many musically talented pupils at Portland Place and the Christmas Concert certainly evidenced this; it was a fantastic way to end the year.”

Portland Place School is an independent co-educational school for children aged 8-18, located directly in the heart of the City of Westminster.
