Pupils invest in future

Students from Sussex school return from a London Academy of Training course, which saw them enter the world of finance and trading

A group of eight students from Buckswood School recently returned from the London Academy of Training one-week course which is designed to give individuals experience of the roles, responsibilities and divisions within the finance, banking and trading sectors.

The students received an introduction to financial markets, hearing from professional traders and technology providers at the Academy’s head quarters in the city.

The external sessions by the Academy’s corporate partners saw the students learn about the services that these international companies provide, in addition to how their technology works.

The academic sessions showed how political and macro-economic news affects the financial markets, and how investor emotions can cause prices to rise or fall.

During the week-long programme, students had access to trading software and real-time data at the academy. This culminated in a real-time trading competition that accumulated all the other skills they had learnt during the course.
