Rio medalists inspire next generation

Tudor Hall School, Banbury, was awash with current and former Women GB Olympians for their own ‘Women in Sport’ event

Sponsored by XXV Performance Sportswear, the three-day event was organised to raise awareness of opportunities for women of all abilities and backgrounds to engage in sport, by taking part, volunteering or just experiencing the rush of live matches.

More than 200 girls from local primary and prep schools took part in a hockey masterclass with Rio gold medallist Laura Unsworth, an athletics workshop with 4x400m bronze medallist Emily Diamond, a taekwondo demonstration with bronze medallist Bianca Walkden and gymnastics workshop with London bronze medallist Beth Tweddle.

Sam Killin, XXV Brand Manager, commented: “It’s great to see the next generation of potential sports stars being inspired by their heroes from London and Rio. Getting more girls interested in sport while they are at school is a practical and enjoyable way of tackling some of the other pressures in today’s world.”
