Rising Stars launches e-safety week

Leading education sector publisher, Rising Stars has announced its e-safety week, commencing 15th June, 2015

During this week, a free e-safety poster will be sent to all schools, and will also be available for free download from the Rising Stars website.

Schools will also be encouraged to invite their students to enter the e-safety competition by designing their own e-safety poster. The judges will be looking for colourful and engaging posters offering good advice to primary school children about e-safety.

The winning poster will be printed and presented to the school. They will also win £500 of Rising Stars resources and a free Learn to Code pack worth £300. 2nd and 3rd prize winners will be given £200 and £100 vouchers respectively, to spend on any Rising Stars’ resources plus £300 of Learn to Code books.

Full details of the competition are on the back of the poster. Teachers should also follow the Rising Stars’ website each day for new blogs on the effective provision of e-safety in schools.

Andrea Carr, managing director of Rising Stars, said “When using technology and the internet children need to understand the risks and also how to behave responsibly and safely. Switched On Computing has e-safety guidance in every unit to help teachers draw out relevant e-safety teaching points and to help primary schools embed good teaching practice across all year groups.”
