School leaders receive funding for vital training and CPD

BESA and the Education Show launch The Leaders Campaign to fund travel expenses

The leading event for CPD and learning resources, the Education Show 2016 and the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) have today launched The Leaders Campaign, dedicated to supporting school leaders in receiving high quality, free continuing professional development (CPD).

The Leaders Campaign, funded by BESA, provides travel expenses of up to £100 to 75 successful applicants from across the UK, in order to support the development of senior management teams in schools. The School Leaders’ Summit will run throughout the Education Show (17-19 March, NEC, Birmingham).

The Education Show 2016 is evolving to focus on the best possible quality of CPD for teachers and leaders, at no cost to the schools. It offers over 100 hours of CPD content, from industry leaders including the award-winning TES Institute, The Teachers’ Development Trust and the National Association for Headteachers (NAHT). The show’s dedicated School Leaders’ Summit focuses on topical issues faced by school leaders, such as life after levels, curriculum challenges, corporate structures in schools, recruitment, retention and behaviour challenges.

Speakers confirmed for the Education Show this year include Tom Bennett, Nick Gibb MP, Stephen Morales, executive director of the National Association of School Business Management (NASBM) and Richard Spencer, teacher at Middlesbrough College and finalist of the Global Teacher Prize.

Caroline Wright, director general designate at BESA, says: “Our latest research shows that there is a growing desire and need by teachers for high quality CPD: 48% of primary schools and 41% of secondary schools state that CPD will be a focus for 2016/17. BESA feels it is therefore very fitting and important that teachers have access to the wealth of CPD and product information available at the Education Show, hence our investment in providing funding for the travel to and from the event, to ensure this is accessible to as many educators as possible.”

Applications can be made here, or if you’re not a leader, but know someone who would benefit from The Leaders Campaign, you can nominate them here.
