Fifteen-year-old Tin-Tin Ho, a pupil at City of London School for Girls, has been awarded a silver medal for her doubles table tennis performance along with Liam Pitchford at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Tin-Tin trained extremely hard in preparation for the games: two hours a day, six days a week with her brother and father. Tin-Tin has been successful in a number of recent competitions and was delighted to be selected for the Commonwealth Games squad. She is currently the most active player in the world, competing in 126 competitions last year.
During the games, she played well in both single and doubles competitions. Tin-Tin and Pitchford’s gold medal decider match against husband and wife team, Paul and Joanna Drinkhall, ended in a 11-7, 11-3, 5-11, 10-12, 11-5 defeat.
At 15, Tin-Tin has shown exceptional maturity and promise for upcoming competitions. Of her defeat in the doubles match, Tin-Tin stated: “It feels great to get a silver medal. They played really well, we didn’t get the best of starts, we managed to get back in but couldn’t get the last set. It’s still brilliant to pick up a silver on my Games’ debut.”
