Sod cut at Wycombe

Wycombe Abbey’s ten-year plan to improve facilities has commenced with two new boarding houses

The first stage of an ambitious ten-year campaign to modernise boarding provision at Wycombe Abbey has officially commenced.

A groundbreaking ceremony, held on the site where two new boarding houses are to be constructed, was attended by staff, parents and students as well as David Morley, the architect responsible for the build.

The two houses are scheduled for completion by September 2017. The project represents the achievement of the first phase of a development plan aiming to renovate boarding and teaching facilities throughout the school. The new boarding houses will act as a blueprint for further improvements in the rest of the school’s boarding provision.

Headmistress, Rhiannon Wilkinson, said: “Through this development campaign, we hope to secure Wycombe’s place as a world-class school and as well as delivering the best education, this means having outstanding facilities which make us fit for purpose for the current generation and those who follow them.”
