English athlete Jade Lally won bronze in discus at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and discussed what it takes to be a medal-winner with year 7 and 8 sports scholars at Cheadle Hulme. Talking about her career, from her first encounter with the sport to her Commonwealth success, Jade offered sound advice for students at the beginning of their own sporting journeys.
Martin Cooke, who co-ordinates the sports scholarship programme at the independent school, said: “We are very grateful to Jade for taking the time to meet our young Scholars and share her wisdom. Visits like this are a huge benefit to the students, who all enjoyed her visit and took a lot away from it.”
Sports scholarships at Cheadle Hulme School are offered to those who show great potential as young sportspeople. Scholars have access to a bespoke programme of special training sessions and visits from sports professionals, helping them to reach their full potential.
