Taunton School students reach Young Enterprise County finals

The students have been selling their charity bracelet to fellow students and star cricketers Marcus Trescothick and Tom Abell

The idea was formulated by the group of 18 students including Dominic Court, from the FUSION team, who said “After electing positions in the company and many hours of planning and ideas, we decided on our product: a bracelet that would support key ideals with which we identify strongly – unity, peace, mindfulness and inclusivity – all topical areas on which we, as teenagers, have little ‘real’ say in the world.”

Charities supported include the British Red Cross, Oxfam, Stand Against Violence, CALM and Amnesty International. The bracelet comprises two coloured cords which can be mixed and matched, each colour representing a different charity.

The team started selling them at school at the beginning of May, and by the end of their first week had sold 250, including sales to Head of Cricket Development and Somerset Cricketer Marcus Trescothick and Somerset Captain Tom Abell.

Please support the company in its vision of people, young and old, wearing the bracelet as a symbol of buying into a more tolerant future and in so doing, support the organisations that try to make it happen.

Dominic Court added: “It is great to see our venture being supported by such well-respected personalities.”

They have successfully reached the Young Enterprise County finals, which take place today, Saturday 13th May, at Taunton Castle where they will pitch their idea against other schools.

Dominic is hopeful of a win and added: “Please support the company in its vision of people, young and old, wearing the bracelet as a symbol of buying into a more tolerant future and in so doing, support the organisations that try to make it happen. By winning the Young Enterprise competition, we could provide a national forum for our vision.”
