The workplace of tomorrow

Lucinda Reid discovers Workplace Hub, a new product from Konica Minolta that promises to transform the workplace and beyond

In Berlin’s historic centre, I arrived at an industrial warehouse to step into the future. I had been invited to a special event by global technology company Konica Minolta to hear about their latest product launch. When I first received the invitation, I was intrigued. Did they have new technology that would impact the education sector? I asked this question to the PR team, but they remained tight-lipped about the event, albeit reassuring me that it would be relevant. Plus, with names like Douglas Coupland, Belinda Parmar and Noreena Hertz speaking at the event, it was too good to miss. 

So, back to the warehouse. Before the event began the venue was buzzing with excitement as journalists from all over the world gathered to hear from Konica Minolta. I soon discovered that no one had been told about the new product, and I was impressed. Keeping a secret from hundreds of journalists is no mean feat. After a quick look around, I took my seat, opened my notebook and poised my pen ready – what was I about to discover? 

At the event, Konica Minolta introduced Workplace Hub, an innovative new IT solution which is able to unify an organisation’s technology via a single centralised platform. The hub will be available from autumn 2017 and promises to provide a more efficient and effective management of an array of tools, service and devices used by modern organisations. This caught my attention. I hear from schools every day and I know that they would love to make their IT more efficient as they are constantly chasing time.
