Twinkle twinkle, little stars!

The end of term saw Clayesmore Nursery and Pre-Prep pupils promoting the Christmas spirit in a series of festive shows

Filled with cute costumes, and plenty of song and dance, the dazzling performances proved to be real yuletide hits.

The Pre-Prep play told the tale of a determined midwife who, on hearing that the new king would be born, set off to offer her expertise and ensure a safe delivery. Aided in her quest by a donkey named Steve, she encounters a trio of star gazing kings and some partying shepherds before stumbling upon a stable to find out that her hot towels are no longer needed, as the rather important baby has already been born! This sparkling show featured some impressive acting performances, sweet solos and graceful ballet dancing from a troupe of natural performers.

This twist on the usual nativity was followed by a more traditional Nursery and Pre-Prep Crib service complete with shepherds, kings, angels and hymns. Opening with Christmas classic ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ sung by the congregation, the Christmas celebrations continued with a rendition of ‘Little Donkey’ and a number of festive readings dotted with a few little turns on the piano from some fledgling players. The service concluded with ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’ and as the congregation left the chapel they embraced the true meaning of Christmas and gave generously to the Prep School charities.

The final festive show of the term was performed by the tiniest members of the Clayesmore team – the Nursery pupils – and had a distinctly meteorological theme with snowflakes, snowmen and a most impressive looking sun. The nursery pupils, who looked super cool in their costumes, delivered a sweet little show that starred an extended snowman family including a chilly granny and grandpa.
