USA beckons for Loretto’s golf star

Eight year-old golfer, Grace, secures place at World Championships in USA for a second time

Loretto School’s eight year-old rising golf star, Grace Crawford stole the show at the U.S. Kids Golf European Championship which took place in East Lothian at the end of May.

The championship attracted the world’s best young golfers aged five to 18, with around 550 players from 35 nations competing in Europe’s premier junior golf tournament which showcases the next generation of stars.

Grace Crawford won the ‘Girls 8 and Under’ category for a second year running and qualified for the prestigious US Kids World Championship at Pinehurst, USA, following her performance in the European equivalent at Longniddry Golf Club.

Budding stars from across the world are invited to take part in the Pinehurst tournament – the largest of its kind for youngsters aged between six and 12 – and Grace, from North Berwick, will battle for the title this summer, flying the flag for Loretto and Scotland!

Jonathan Hewat, Director of External Affairs from Loretto School, said: “For Grace to win her category once is an incredible, but twice in a row – that is remarkable! We do congratulate Grace.”
