Warwick School to be new Performance Centre for Hockey

The school will be the South Midland Performance Centre for England Hockey

From January 2017, Warwick School will be the South Midland Performance Centre for England Hockey.

This follows a selection process which selects the venues based on their facilities and commitment to hockey. Players aged 14-17, selected for the performance centre will train at Warwick School on a regular basis as part of the new England Hockey Player Pathway. The performance centre aims to provide regular high quality training and competitive opportunities for the most talented players across the country.

Warwick School and King’s High School have recently upgraded their hockey pitches and now have a blue Tiger Turf surface with improved technical areas and a spectator area. This improvement in facilities no doubt strengthened the school’s bid to be a regional performance centre.

Greg Wade, Head of Hockey at Warwick School has also been appointed Head Coach for the boys’ programme.

Warwick School was also chosen as the venue for a GB Hockey coaching sessions. GB hockey coaches were filmed whilst running sessions for Warwick students. This will be used by GB hockey for their online training resource, the Hockey Hub.
